About Tim Macer

Global Research Director, Ipsos-MediaCT
Richard has more than 25 years experience covering most areas of market research, but specialising in research for clients in the media sector, specifically audience measurement. His expertise is in sampling and research methods. He has tended to specialise in the design and management of large and continuous research projects. In his current role his time is divided between audience measurement projects in the UK and international initiatives.
In the UK he is closely involved with the RAJAR radio audience measurement survey the National Readership Survey and the Postar out of home audience measurement project. In 2006 he authored the White Paper ‘Audience Measurement for Screen Media’ (available from www.thescreen.org)
As part of his international role he has worked with Ipsos companies in most parts of the world, either as an adviser on best practice for local audience measurement projects or in the development of new measurement initiatives, such as the use of passive metering for outdoor and broadcast media.
In addition to his current responsibilities he was the technical consultant to the Outdoor Advertising Association in the UK from 1988-1990 and European Research Director for MMXI Europe from 1999-2000, when he was responsible for setting up internet audience measurement panels across Western Europe.
He has published reports in areas as diverse as survey non-response, student finance, audience appreciation and the market for digital radio.

About Marek Fuchs

Marek Fuchs, PhD., is an associate professor for research methods at the department of social sciences, University of Kassel, Germany. He received his PhD in 1993 and conducted post-doctoral work at the Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan, USA. His research interests include — among other topics — methodological aspects of Web surveys and the use of mobile phones in survey research.

About Liz Nelson

In the market research field the name of Dr Liz Nelson is legendary. As founder and chairman of Taylor Nelson Sofres she helped develop the market research principles that have formed the foundation of today’s industry. TNS plc was the second largest market research company in the world at the time of its acquisition by WPP.
Liz currently pursues a wide range of interests and activities: she chairs a new UK market research company, Q Research that is pioneering online surveys via mobile phones to a panel of 5000 young people. She also serves on the Disciplinary Board of the Market Research Society.
American by birth, Liz came to Britain to study for a PhD in Clinical Psychology at London University. Among her many accolades she holds honorary doctorates from City University, the Open University; Hon. Fellowship of University of Roehamption and is a Gold Medallist of the Market Research Society.

About Vasja Vehovar

Vasja Vehovar, Ph.D., is a Professor of Statistics at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. The main areas of his research interest include the problem of survey non-response, web survey methodology and social aspects of the Internet and other ICTs. He is the principal investigator of the internationally recognized project WebSM - Web Survey Methodology portal.
