Richard has more than 25 years experience covering most areas of market research, but specialising in research for clients in the media sector, specifically audience measurement. His expertise is in sampling and research methods. He has tended to specialise in the design and management of large and continuous research projects. In his current role his time is divided between audience measurement projects in the UK and international initiatives. In the UK he is closely involved with the RAJAR radio audience measurement survey the National Readership Survey and the Postar out of home audience measurement project. In 2006 he authored the White Paper ‘Audience Measurement for Screen Media’ (available from www.thescreen.org) As part of his international role he has worked with Ipsos companies in most parts of the world, either as an adviser on best practice for local audience measurement projects or in the development of new measurement initiatives, such as the use of passive metering for outdoor and broadcast media. In addition to his current responsibilities he was the technical consultant to the Outdoor Advertising Association in the UK from 1988-1990 and European Research Director for MMXI Europe from 1999-2000, when he was responsible for setting up internet audience measurement panels across Western Europe. He has published reports in areas as diverse as survey non-response, student finance, audience appreciation and the market for digital radio. |
